CIF IN2WORK Graduation
Pendleton, Ind. - The Correctional Industrial Facility recently held an IN2WORK Graduation Ceremony for 22 offenders. The ceremony consisted of a dinner banquet prepared by and for the graduates. Followed shortly thereafter with the graduation procession
IN2Work is a Vocational Program facilitated by Aramark through the Department of Correction. The current program requires 550 hours of total offender participation. This requires each offender to train in seven different areas of food service technique, as well as participating in and fulfilling the necessary classroom portion, which results in ServSafe certification upon successful completion. Students spend approximately three to four hours per week in a classroom setting and thirty-five hours per week, working hands on. Participants who complete the IN2Work upon their release back into the community are able to utilize the “Allie Hiring System” with Aramark. This hiring system was established to assist released offenders with finding employment and allows them to work within all branches of Aramark once released.
Warden Wendy Knight commented, “This program gives offenders a valuable tool to use once they are released. The ability to walk out with a certification and on the job experience as well as job placement assistance is paramount to a successful re-entry.”
