WVCF Employee Promotes to OII Supervisor
Carlisle, Ind.- Randy VanVleet has been an employee of the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF) since October 1996. He began his career as a Correctional Officer, then promoted to Correctional Sergeant in 2001. In 2013 Randy decided to pursue his interest in investigation, so he applied for a position in the Office of Investigations and Intelligence (OII). While assigned to OII he has successfully completed training relating to Security Threat Groups, the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), and Investigations & Interviewing. His experience and training has gained him a wealth of knowledge, all of which has served to broaden his understanding of the intricate working of the criminal component within the correctional setting.
In addition to Randy's experience and training he also holds both an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement & Conservation, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Homeland Security & Public Safety. Warden Vanihel said, "Randy has proven that he is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of this facility, sacrificing his personal time for investigations and training. He has the knowledge necessary to lead his fellow staff members as they work to maintain a safe environment for their colleagues."
