Indiana Department of Correction

Donates $1,300 to Code Black Indy

Indianapolis, Ind -
The Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) Diversity and Development Division held a Black History Month Fundraiser event during the month of February. The fundraiser was open to the incarcerated population at all IDOC facilities. Proceeds raised from this event was donated to the not-for-profit organization Code Black Indy. Code Black Indy is an organization that works to expose young people of color to careers within the technology field and provide support and pathways for adults into technology companies.

With the help of the incarcerated population, IDOC was able to raise $1,300 for the organization, with the top donating facility being Rockville Correctional Facility (RTC). Accepting the check for Code Black Indy was Todd Deloney Jr, Treasurer for Code Black Indy. Deputy Commissioner Sutton said, “it was a great feeling to be able to present the check to Code Black Indy on behalf of the IDOC, and I am so proud of the offender population for donating money out of their trust accounts to benefit such a worthy cause. Code Black Indy gives back to the community by providing education in the tech field for underserved populations. They are intentionally working to bridge the gap for black and brown kids in the tech field.”
