Diversity Inclusion Efforts Underway

Carlisle, Ind
.- The Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) values a well rounded employee base and recognizes how beneficial it is to the overall operation of the Department.  Angela Sutton was appointed the new IDOC Deputy Commissioner of Diversity and Development in an effort to cultivate the mission of enhancing equality and inclusion within IDOC.

Each IDOC Facility has designated a Diversity, Inclusion, and Bias (DIB) Coordinator to encourage staff to embrace diversity throughout the Department.  Classification Specialist Andrea Mason has been selected to fill the position at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF).  She is also an adjunct instructor for the new DIB Course that has been implemented to share the value of a diverse work environment. Andrea is working to open the channels of communication with staff by visiting each shift to encourage them to share their thoughts on diversity.  While doing so, she is gathering information for the Office of Diversity and Development to help plan for future programming.
