Sergeant McCullum began his career with the Indiana Department of Corrections in 2004 at the South Bend Juvenile Correctional Facility as an officer. By 2007 he was promoted to Sergeant. South Bend then was closed in 2012 and he moved to Indiana State Prison. In 2014 he left to go to Camp Summit Boot Camp. He then transferred back to South Bend in the Reentry facility. In 2018 he returned to the LaPorte facility in its new capacity of the girls juvenile facility.
Warden Jason Smiley states "Sergeant McCullum has done an outstanding job during his time at LaPorte Juvenile. He has earned the respect of his peers and the youth. That will serve him well in his new position of sergeant.
