Staff Promotion

Pendleton, Ind. - Warden Mike Minthron and Deputy Warden Chris Blakey of the Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility (PNJCF) announced the promotion of Drew Austin to the position of Youth Development Sergeant. 

Sergeant Austin began his career at PNJCF in August 2006.  Most recently he has worked in the Making a Change Unit (MCU) and is also trained to operate the facility's Main Control.  Drew is also certified to teach at the Making a Change Academy (MCA) and the Joint Understand Cooperation Program (JUCP).  Both of these programs help teach students at the PNJCF how to make better decisions.

Sgt. Austin is also trained as a Field Training Officer.  Now, in his new supervisory role he is looking forward to assisting other staff members build their careers as they collectively work to improve the lives of young people at the PNJCF.

"I'm truly grateful to have a career that has afforded the opportunity to encourage young people." said Sgt. Austin.  "The overall goal is to help each of them learn from their past mistakes and guide them to a more promising future."
