Gerald Hayn Returns to Rockville Correctional Facility as Facility Training Coordinator
Rockville, Ind. – Rockville Correctional Facility (RCF) Warden Julie Stout is please to announce the promotion of Gerald Hayn and his appointment to Facility Training Coordinator.
In December 2007, after studying Criminal Justice at Ivy Tech Community College and Indiana State University, Gerry began his career at RCF as a Correctional Officer. He quickly excelled at his assigned duties while taking advantage of every learning opportunity that came his way. Gerry’s altruistic approach to applying that training daily, including volunteering for Security Skills Training Instructor Duties, serving as the Facility Field Training Officer, as well as Commanding the Facility’s Emergency Squad made him an attractive candidate for promotion. He was promoted to Correctional Sergeant in September of 2010 where he was the first line supervisor of several correctional officer staff. Proving himself to be an effective leader of staff and having graduated from the Indiana Department of Correction’s (IDOC) Commissioner’s Experienced and Emerging Leaders Program Gerry was again promoted in March 2015, this time to the rank of Correctional Lieutenant. In this role he led several correctional sergeants and officers in the daily performance of their duties overseeing more than one thousand adult female offenders.
Not being one to let the grass grow under his feet, Gerry took an opportunity in August 2016 to transfer to IDOC’s Terre Haute Parole District where he supervised offender parolees in Fountain, Montgomery, and Warren counties in Indiana. Jerry’s teamwork and esprit de’ corps was again on display as evidenced by his recognition for going above and beyond to assist his team. Gerry made himself available whenever possible to provide community outreach, communicating with the public the essential role of parole agents in the criminal justice system. Throughout his tenure with Parole, Gerry continued to serve with the RCF Emergency Squad.
Gerry has proven himself to be a decisive leader who brings out the best in his team through personal professional leadership and is totally committed to the excellence that can be achieved the result of thorough and effective training. These attributes highlight why Gerry is uniquely qualified to take this next step in his career journey. He now is responsible for leading RCF’s dedicated staff of Adjunct Training Instructors, and Field Training Officers ensuring all staff are provided the training tools necessary to not only perform their duties, but to do so at the high standards for which RCF is known.
