Branchville's Correctional's Cajun-Style Pitch In
Branchville, Ind. - Branchville Correctional Facility Capt. J. Noble of K Bracket and his staff held a pitch in on July 17, 2020. The Cajun-style pitch in was a huge success and a great moral boost.
With the uncertainty COVID-19 has brought to the country, morale is easily overlooked and difficult to maintain. Capt. J. Noble, understanding the strain this uncertainty can cause, wanted to do something special for his staff. Capt. Noble decided a pitch in would be just what his night shift bracket needed to continue their important work. How to make it special? Why not a Cajun style pitch in. Noble, working with two staff on his shift, Officers Fisher and Smith, and ordered specialty items from Louisiana. Dishes were made with meat, infused with Cajun and creole spices. Staff also donated side dishes, drinks, and desserts.
"Throughout the pandemic the Indiana Department of Correction has been honoring those that have continued to serve in these difficult times. Often the custody staff are called upon to work long hours, in harsh weather, in hazardous areas, and take on overtime assignments, putting their lives in danger daily. They do this without complaining and with little recognition," stated Warden Kathy Alvey. "The pitch in was just one way the staff at Branchville Correctional Facility encourage each other and keep morale high. Thank you Capt. Noble and his shift for the fantastic idea!"
