Hats Off Awards

Pendleton, Ind. - Warden Mike Minthorn, of the Pendleton Juvenile Correction Facility, in collaboration with ED Kevin Orme and Staff Development and Training, recently presented 'HATS Off' awards to John Baney, and Paul Livingston.

The HATS acronyms stands for:

  • Heart - Dedicated and passionate about their contributions to the facility
  • Attitude - Maintain positivity throughout their work days
  • Team - Promote a positive team spirit
  • Spark - Ignite passion and help motivate other co-workers

 

"Mr. Baney is one of the most helpful, friendly staff at the Pendelton Juvenile Correctional Facility (PNJCF)", Warden Minthorn said. "John always completes any task assigned, even when it requires overtime work." Minthorn concluded, "Aside from his own duties, John helps other staff as well and has a great rapport with other staff members." 

H – When you think about maintenance staff at PNJCF the name John Baney always comes up. He is the go to staff for most tech issues, including cameras and any other job that requires an expert's touch.

A – Mr. Baney is always greeting staff with a hello and genuinely cares about other people and how their day is going.  His positive attitude and trustworthiness makes him easy to be around on a daily basis.

T – Mr. Baney is always willing to step up and help the facility in whatever capacity he can. He promotes teamwork not only through the maintenance department, but with the custody staff he works with while on a regular basis.

S – Mr. Baney is always willing to offer advice and assistance to staff and inspires others and inspires other staff to do the same.  His years of experience and the relationships he's built contributes to the sense of comradery with his co-workers.  He always has a smile and his work ethic is unquestioned.

Speaking to Paul Livingstone's award, Warden Minthorn said, "Paul is quick to respond to school maintenance requests and always follows up on the status of repairs once he’s fixed them.  Moreover, he will ask about the maintenance needs of the school whenever I see him in the facility.  He is always positive and willing to lend a helping hand."

H – Mr. Livingstone is passionate about the facility and does his best every day. He stays as long as necessary to get the job done and frequently fills in to help other department members.

A –  Mr. Livingstone maintains a positive attitude all the time and is always willing to help bring a smile to a co-worker's day. When given an assignment it is common knowledge the job will be completed properly the first time.

T – Mr. Livingstone's team spirit shines through everyday in his conversations with other staff as he asks if others need any help, just what one expects from a true team player.

S – Mr. Livingstone's dedication and service offers the example for others to follow as he daily gives a full measure of commitment to his duties and responsibilities.  He is a valued team member at Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility and inspires others to do their best.
