Key Contributor Awards

LaPorte, Ind. — Key Contributors are Aramark, Knowledge Services and Wexford contract staff who work together with facility staff to not only provide essential services, but also demonstrate exceptional teamwork going above and beyond expectations. These key contributors collaborate with others to ensure operations run smoothly within the facility and strive to make a positive difference in the lives around them.

It is with great pleasure we announce the Key Contributors for the LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility.

Buzz

Vicky Buzalski

Registered Nurse Vicky Buzalski has always gone above and beyond the call of duty to help anyone at the facility. She is always willing to assist with picking up any extra hours that need filled or when there is an unexpected call off with-in our medical team at the facility. She is extremely detail oriented and efficient in assisting with ACA and with PBS. Nurse Buzalski is compassionate while remaining fair, firm and consistent with our students. During  the past couple months Mrs. Buzalski has had to screen several questions from many worried parents about the  students and has been able to provide professional and informational responses which has greatly reduced the stress level of the facility to a low level.

Lisa

Lisa Kreitz

Lisa has been with our facility for nine years and has held many positions in the education department.  In the past, she has been a Computer Lab Technician and also was the main point of contact for Library Services.  Currently she serves as the Testing Coordinator, Special Education Secretary, and Administrative Assistant.  As the Testing Coordinator, she has gone above and beyond to make sure students receive their TASC to graduate.  Her dedication is evident by her driving to Plainfield twice a month to pick up and drop off TASC tests, and coming in on state holidays to administer the pre-test to eligible students.  Additionally, she holds the education department to a high standard by making sure our testing procedures fall in line with Dr. John Nally’s expectations.  As the Special Education Secretary, she ensures special education students have Case Conferences and Individual Education Plans in the time frame required by the Department of Education.   She is also a valuable Administrative Assistant who maintains the school calendar, schedules events, mails school documents, and monitors classroom attendance.

Lashonda

Lashonda Range

Ms. Lashonda Range has had a key role at La Porte Juvenile Correctional Facility during the past several months. When the Covid-19 restrictions first started she worked with several of our administrators developing the plans for the facility to ensure the needs of the students and staff could be met in case of an emergency. Ms. Range has worked long hours, coming in early and staying late to assist her staff, to ensure operations continue to go as smoothly as possible.  Ms. Range maintains an upbeat positive outlook, which helps reduce the stress of students and staff she interacts with on a daily basis.
