Patriotism Behind Bars
New Castle, Ind. - New Castle Correctional Facility, GEO Group wants the community to know that our veterans did not let the restrictions or pandemic dim their patriotic pride. Instead of our usual Memorial Day event, they "planted" these 1000 flags outside their unit today. The words to the left and right of the entrance door are "Never Forgotten". We are proud to honor our service men and women for the sacrifices they have made for each of us. We hope this gives encouragement to all in these challenging times.
About the GEOGroup Veterans Program:
NCCF has a program that houses incarcerated Veteran's. It is called HUMV which stands for H-Unit-Military-Veteran's. The program houses Veteran's from all active branches of service Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force as well as National Guard and Reserve. They are held to a higher standard of living, as far as, cleanliness, respect and an altered military structure. This is the second such program in the IDOC, along with INVET.
