Fire Department Growing
Branchville, Ind. - Branchville Correctional Facility Fire Chief Jimmie Vincent announced today four new members have been added to the growing Branchville Correctional Facility Fire Department roster.
Unit Team Manger Kelly Hubert, Sgt. Peter Herzog along with Officers Jessica Herzog and Deanna Haycraft are the most recent additions to the expanding fire department at the Branchville Correctional Facility. Several weeks from now all four new additions, as well as several current members, will attend Fire School to become Indiana Certified Firefighters. Branchville's fire crew as well as all fire crews primary function is to prevent and suppress fires in their specific facility. The fire crew, once certified will be part of the statewide Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC) team.
Fire Chief, Jimmie Vincent stated, "Fire crews in the past have been called to travel to other facilities to provide fire suppression services the result of accidental fires as well as purposely set fires in cell houses." Vincent continued, "Having our own certified fire fighters allows for a rapid response to any fire emergency on facility grounds while other custody officers focus on the safety and security of the offender population."
Warden Kathy Alvey said, "Branchville’s fire department is not only crucial to the facility, but to our outside partners. If called upon, we will be fully prepared to assist other community fire departments." Warden Alvey concluded, "I think it's great we have staff willing to accept the additional responsibility while also being available to assist other communities if needed. We . The fire crew is another avenue Branchville Correctional Facility is utilizing in order to continue to provide safety and build partnerships with the local communities and residents.
Kelly Hubert began her career on 5/14/2007 in uniform as a Correctional Officer. After a year on the job, an opening in the Addictions Recovery Department became avaliable and she transferred to Substance Abuse Counselor 4 on 3/20/2008. Her experience and professionalism were quickly recognized and she was promoted on 3/14/2010 to Substance Abuse Counselor 3. On 8/29/2010 she transferred to the Unit Team as a Correctional Case Manager. Hubert currently is the Correctional Unit Team Manger, a position she has held since 12/16/2013.

Sgt. Peter Herzog began his career at Branchville on 12/5/2016 as a correctional officer. He demonstrated the type of leadership and professionalism early and caught the eye of his superiors. He was promoted to Sergeant on 10/7/2018. With his admission to the Branchville fire crew he continues to lead by example.

Officer Jessica Herzog began her Branchville career as a Custody Officer on 10/1/2018. She has quickly earned a reputation for service and dependability. As a Branchville Fire Crew member she will continue serve and protect not just at Branchville but where ever she is called to serve. |

Deanna Haycraft started her career in Corrections a few short months ago as a custody officer on 11/18/2019. Having been here less then a year Haycraft has shown a drive to succeed in her chosen field. As a new employee with IDOC she signed up to be on the Branchville Fire Crew as soon as possible. |
