Branchville Correctional Facility Fire Department
Welcomes New Fire Engine

Branchville, Ind. - Warden Kathy Alvey and Branchville Correctional Facility Fire Department (BCF FD) welcomed a new fire engine to the facility this week.

Several weeks ago Branchville Correctional was notified of the potential purchase of the Fire Engine. The fire engine was purchased using statewide recycling funds from the City of Vincennes. The Engine has been completely refurbished and redeployed with the Branchville Correctional Fire Department.

Warden Kathy Alvey stated, “This is a great addition to the Branchville Fire Department. This upgrade will be an asset if we are ever called upon for mutual aid to our surrounding counties. Our firefighters are trained and ready to answer the call when needed." With the addition of the new fire engine Branchville FD can be deployed for any fire both on facility grounds and surrounding communities and Hoosier National Forest.

Branchville Correctional Facility Fire Department recently added several new firefighters to its department. Warden Alvey went on to say, "A lot of our firefighters volunteer for local fire departments. I am proud of our team.” Branchville Correctional Facility staff are dedicated to keeping our community safe.

As the State of Indiana begins to re-opens and recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, State Parks and Recreation areas, will see increases in campers, hikers and others. The need for trained firefighters and equipment will increase. Branchville Correctional Facility Fire Department is ready to answer the call when needed.
