LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility Celebrates Staff
Retirement after 22.5 years of Dedicated Service

LaPorte Ind.—LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility (LPJCF) Warden Jason Smiley and the entire facility staff congratulate Administrative Assistant Patricia Kimmel on her retirement after 22.5 years of dedicated service to the Indiana Department of Correction.

Pat began her career with IDOC in November of 1997 at Westville Correctional Facility in the payroll department.    She then subsequently left to go to Indiana State Prison where she worked as a secretary for the Major as well as in the training department.

She then made her way back to Westville where she was the secretary for the Assistant Superintendent of Operations, and she served in that position under 4 different people.

In September of 2013 Pat made the transition to the juvenile side where she took the position as Administrative Assistant to the Warden at Camp Summit Boot Camp.    She continued in that capacity even after the girls transition to the facility in November of 2017.

Pat has also participated in many different projects and groups throughout her career including decorating for Christmas,  Employee Activity Planning Committee,  Correctional Professional Assistance Fund of Indiana,  State Employee Community Campaign as well as many different party planning events.

Pat is looking forward to a lot of relaxation, traveling with her husband Jim and skydiving. and of course spending lots of quality time with her grandchildren. She stated that she will miss the staff the most. "Being able to be the person that others come to vent to, or just to be the person that listens is what I will miss the most".

Good luck and congratulations, you will be missed.
