Indiana State Prison Celebrates Three Promotions

Michigan City, Ind. – Indiana State Prison Warden Ron Neal announces the promotion of three staff. Waheed Abayomi was promoted to Correctional Case Worker, Terrie Hale to Correctional Case Manager and Christine Vorrier to Unit Team Manager.   The three staff reflect promotions to all aspects of the Unit team structure.

Waheed began his career with the Indiana Department of Correction as a Correctional Officer on March 22, 2019. He has a Bachelor's of Accounting Degree. He has worked with the United Nations and came here from Nigeria.

Terrie Hale has been with the Department of Correction since 2008. She began as a Correctional Officer at the Westville Correctional Facility. She is a Field Training Officer and a National Institute of Corrections Auditor. Terrie completed numerous programs with the Indiana Department of Correction, Professional Employees Supervisory Program, Optimizing Heightened Effectiveness Supervisory Program, Conquering Maximum Efficiency Supervisory Program, and Certified Treatment Specialist Instructor. Terrie is a graduate of the Leadership Academy and the Commissioners Experience and Emerging Leaders.

Christine Vorrier began her career at the Westville Transition Unit at the Westville Correctional Facility in 2001 as a Correctional Officer. She has been employed at the South Bend Juvenile Facility as a Youth Service Instructor and later transferred to the Indiana State Prison in 2015. Ms. Vorrier has completed the Indiana Department of Leadership Academy and is currently an instructor at the Leadership Academy. She is a graduate of the Experienced and Emerging Leadership Program, completed the Offender Workforce Development Specialist Program and is currently serving on the Emergency SITCOM team for the department. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.

Warden Ron Neal stated, “All three staff have demonstrated they will be a great asset to the Unit Team Program at the Indiana State Prison. They will be instrumental in assisting the offender population with the needs in the Re-Entry Division of the Department of Correction. I look forward to working with each of the individuals.”
