South Bend Community Re-Entry Center
Sergeant Pulja Earns Citizenship

South Bend, Ind. - Sergeant Eduard Pulja became a citizen of the United States. Sgt. Pulja was born in Croatia and came to the U.S. as a foreign exchange student while in high school. He ended up attending college, where he excelled at basketball. After college, he traveled Europe playing professional basketball.

Pulja eventually settled in South Bend with his wife Marina, and their three children. Sgt. Pulja started his career with the Indiana Department of Correction at the South Bend Community Re-Entry Center in January 2017.

"Becoming a citizen of the United States is a great honor. A lot of work went into the process, but it is all worth it. I hope to have a long and fruitful career with the Department of Correction," said Sergeant Eduard "Edi" Pulja.
