Chain O'Lakes Correctional
Recognizes Rebecca Cornett as Silent Hero

Albion, Ind. - Chain O’ Lakes Correctional Facility Staff awarded Ms. Rebecca Cornett the Silent Hero award. Ms. Cornett never hesitates to help when needed, she is willing to assist anyone in their daily duties. Recently on her off-duty time, she researched for a digital thermometer for facility use. She then went the extra mile and paid for one out of pocket until she could be reimbursed. When the agency requested fabric for masks for the resident population, she jumped into action donating monetarily for the fabric and donating her sewing machine resulting in enough masks for the entire facility being made.

When not at her desk she can be found working the Control Post to assist custody when needed. She helps with new hires to ensure their payroll and HR documentation is correct. Ms. Cornett volunteers her time after work every Wednesday to teach residents how to knit hats for hospitals, shelters and #HatNotHate, an anti-bullying campaign. The group is called The Mad Hatters. She serves as the Wellness Champion and the SECC Coordinator for the facility. Ms. Cornett makes sure every staff member is recognized on their birthday with a special birthday wish (card and candy).

Administrative Assistant II Rhonda-Thomas Hardy stated, “Ms. Cornett is a team member who does not ask why, she does what is needs to be done for the team.”
