Rockville Correcitonal Facility Staff Donate
Food and Hygeine Products to Local Charity

Rockville, Ind. – Every February for the past several years the staff of the Rockville Correctional Facility have participated in a friendly competition benefiting the Parke County, Indiana Food Pantry.  The good natured rivalry pits various facility departments and shifts against one another to maximize food and hygiene donations for this worthy cause.  When finished a single RCF team donation is presented.  This year over 1,000 individual items were collected.

February is National Canned Food Month in the United States which makes the month an excellent time to highlight the need for gathering supplies for at risk populations.  The Parke County Food Pantry estimates that some 17% of the roughly 6,500 households in the county are dependent upon the Pantry to keep their families fed.

According to Connie Norman, Director of the Parke County Food Pantry, "You never know if or when something could come up that drastically changes your situation; no one is immune to falling on hard times.  Sometimes we take for granted our ability purchase food, coats, hats, or hygiene items for our children. We are thankful to everyone who helps us provide this lifeline in our community."

For more information, or to find out how you can help please visit the Parke County Food Pantry at 1103 S. White Tail Ln, Rockville, IN 47872, or call them at (765) 569-3284.
