Geo Rogers Clark

November 19, 1752 George Rogers Clark is born in Virginia. He becomes the “Conqueror of the Old Northwest,” taking  Vincennes from the British.


November 20, 1880 Governor James “Blue Jeans” Williams dies in office. He lies in state at the Marion County Courthouse. Lt. Gov. Isaac Gray serves the remaining two months of the Governor’s term.

November 21, 1959 Chrysler Field House opens in New Castle.  It is the world’s largest high school gym.

Hoagy Carmichael

November 22, 1899 Hoagy Carmichael American composer, singer, born in Bloomington.
