Announcements
• Despite starting the week off with snow on the ground here in northern Indiana, the Nursery Inspectors have started conducting inspections. The regular Weekly Review is scheduled to start on April 24, but there might be an earlier publication if we find something interesting.
• If you didn’t catch it last year, Ren Hall started with us in August after Scott Kenzie’s retirement. So for those of you on the West Central side of the state who haven’t met her yet, be sure to say hello when she comes through!
• Purdue University Extension has started their own bi-weekly list serve early this year. Most of the contributors to the Purdue Landscape Report also follow us, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see comments and follow-ups in their report to what we write about. You can subscribe at their website.
• Finally, there are three Invasive Forest Pests Early Detector Training Workshops scheduled for May. Hosted by Purdue Extension and Indiana DNR, these workshops are a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the threats our forests are facing and learn how to effectively scout for and report these invasive species. Workshops are:
May 22, 5:30-8:30 p.m. CST, Mesker Park Zoo, 1545 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, IN May 23, 5:30-8:30 p.m. EST, Falls of the Ohio, 201 W. Riverside Drive, Clarksville, IN May 24, 5:30-8:30 p.m. EST, Dearborn Adult Center, 311 W. Tate Street, Lawrenceburg, IN
Workshops are free, but registration is required. CCHs, ISA CEUs, and SAF CFEs are available. For more information, contact Elizabeth Barnes at barne175@purdue.edu or 765-494-0822.
