City of Carmel shares construction schedule highlights for the upcoming season
CARMEL, Ind., Jan. 20, 2025 - The City of Carmel is releasing an early look at major construction activities planned for the upcoming construction season. While work occurs year-round, residents should expect the most noticeable impacts during the spring, summer, and fall months. As with previous high-activity years, multiple projects will be underway at the same time.
This advance notice is intended to help residents, businesses and commuters plan ahead.
Benefits of overlapping projects
Busy construction seasons are the result of long-term planning, coordination with utility providers and state and federal funding cycles. While overlapping projects can be disruptive, staggering them over many additional years extends the disruption, increases overall costs and delays important safety improvements.
"Coordinating overlapping work allows the City to modernize infrastructure efficiently," said City Engineer Bradley Pease. "This approach allows us to reduce repeat disruptions and deliver long-term safety and mobility improvements sooner rather than later."
