CarmelFest is here!
Carmel's most anticipated summer tradition, CarmelFest, kicked off yesterday, the parade will soon be underway and the festivities at Civic Square and Carter Green promised to bring a day of fun for everyone. You won't want to miss the grand finale of the event, a spectacular fireworks show starting this evening at 9:45 p.m.

CARMELFEST TRAFFIC The City of Carmel and Carmel Police Department have issued traffic information for July 4. This link takes to the news release.
Please remember to obey the "No Parking" signage throughout the CarmelFest footprint. Some of those areas are reserved for emergency access and public safety, and we need them to remain clear.
TOWNE ROAD CLOSURES A reminder that construction is underway on raised pedestrian crosswalks at seven roundabouts along Towne Road. Each roundabout will close for approximately one month, with detours posted and closures staggered as follows:
106th Street and Towne Road, 131st Street and Towne Road – Currently closed; scheduled to open on or after July 14.
116th Street and Towne Road, 136th Street and Towne Road – Scheduled to close on or after July 14.

Carmel Fire Department (CFD) reminds everyone to celebrate responsibly this Fourth of July by following all fireworks safety guidelines and general holiday safety rules.

City of Carmel honors Stephen P. Sturtz
Mayor Sue Finkam and the City of Carmel proudly honored Stephen Sturtz, President of Pedcor Design Group, with the 2025 Carmel Architecture Award.
This award celebrates visionary leadership in architecture and redevelopment that shapes the character of our community. Sturtz played a key role in bringing Carmel City Center to life — the transformative, multi-phase, mixed-use development at the heart of our city.

News from Carmel Utilities
Holiday Trash & Recycling Schedule
A friendly reminder that, due to Independence Day, there will be a one day delay of Republic Services residential trash and recycling service AFTER the 4th of July holiday. This will impact Friday customers only.
Please also note that the Carmel Household Hazardous Waste site will be closed on Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5. It will reopen on Tueday, July 8.

Mark your calendars for Public Safety Day
Carmel Fire and Police and other City of Carmel teams will join local, state and federal public safety agencies to engage and educate the public on safety and emergency preparedness. Each year, this event draws crowds with interactive activities for all ages.

The Carmel Climate Action Committee is tasked with advising and making recommendations regarding the implementation of the Carmel Climate Action Plan (CAP). Strategy PE-1 of the CAP involves public education about sustainability and the environment. This new section of the newsletter will help meet this goal by providing useful information, tips and resources for residents.

Palladiscope "Sea to Shining Sea"
The special Fourth of July Palladiscope projection "Sea to Shining Sea" will be available for viewing at the Payne & Mencias Palladium July 4 - 6. This patriotic-themed presentation will not have sound and will begin at 9:30 p.m. each night, running every half hour with the last show ending at 11 p.m. This evening, the first Palladiscope will run after the conclusion of the fireworks at approximately 10:15 p.m.

Get lost in books with the Carmel Clay Public Library's (CCPL) Summer Reading Program. Now through July 31, readers who participate in the program will earn donations for Carmel's Merciful HELP Center, which lends a hand to neighbors in need across Hamilton County.

Great American Songbook Academy July 12-19
The Great American Songbook Foundation’s annual summer music intensive is set to take place July 12-19 at Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts. This year, Great American Songbook Foundation founder Michael Feinstein, will be joined by an impressive group of performers and entertainment professionals who will mentor the 40 student participants.

Land Use and Special Studies Committee - Monday, July 7, 5 p.m. City Council - Monday, July 7, 6 p.m.
City of Carmel offices will be closed on Friday, July 4 for the Fourth of July holiday.
All public meetings take place in the Council Chambers in City Hall, unless otherwise indicated. Public meetings are broadcast live on Carmel TV and YouTube.
