Carmel shows up for the Pacers
Whether it's our local Carmel Greyhounds, March Madness in the spring or the Indiana Pacers, Hoosiers love basketball!
To get in the spirit as the Pacers and the Thunder battle it out in the NBA Finals, the City of Carmel Street Department has turned the Monon Greenway bridge over Carmel Drive blue and gold and Mayor Sue Finkam has a friendly wager with Mayor Mark Nash from the City of Edmond in Oklahoma.
Whichever team wins the NBA Finals series; the mayor of the losing team will have to wear the winning team’s jersey during a City Council meeting!
Game 4 will be on the big screen in Midtown Plaza tonight at 8:30 p.m., rain or shine!

Department of Community Services
Carmel’s single-family rental registry and cap ordinance was approved by the city council at the Monday, June 2, 2025 City Council meeting under Ordinance D-2770-25.
The permit requirement will be effective on January 1, 2026.
With the passing of this measure, the City is now developing the permitting system and registration procedure for single-family dwellings mandated by the ordinance, including the required elements established by city council.
Prior to the January 1, 2026 permit requirement, an early enrollment period will be offered with a start up date that will be announced later this summer.
While there is no registration required at this time, completion of this pre-registration form will allow the City to easily contact you when the registry system is open.
