Carmel welcomes sister city delegation
A special delegation from Kawachinagano, Osaka, Japan, visited Carmel this week as part of our treasured Sister City relationship. Kawachinagano Mayor Shuhei Nishino was accompanied by members of his city team and members of the Kawachinagano Friendship Association.
The group took part in a busy itinerary, exploring our city’s many amenities and public services and exchanged valuable insights on city operations and consideration of business collaborations.
Thank you to our City of Carmel team members in Streets, Police and Fire, the Redevelopment Commission and Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation who provided comprehensive tours and insights into the city's infrastructure and public safety operations.
The delegation enjoyed time with Carmel High School students in a Japanese language course, as well as a visit to Republic Airways. And, Mayor Nishino rang the opening bell to officially kick-off the Carmel Farmers Market.
Our many Sister City relationships have led to strong connections, creating economic opportunities, supporting student exchanges, academic collaborations and knowledge sharing.
