Lane Young to lead Carmel Utilities
CARMEL, Ind., April 1, 2025 - A seasoned leader with experience leading utilities for large municipalities and organizations is joining the City of Carmel as Director of Utilities.
Lane Young previously served as executive director of Evansville Water and Sewer Utility and as campus director at Christian Union at Columbia. Young additionally held leadership roles at TeachBeyond Global and Evansville Titles.
“I am very excited to welcome Lane to the City of Carmel as Director of Utilities,” said Chief Infrastructure Officer Jeremy Kashman. “He brings extensive experience in leading a large public utility, as well as strong leadership and collaboration capabilities that will support our tradition of excellence and service to our residents and businesses.”
A native of Evansville with a background in leadership and finance, Young holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Indiana University and a master’s degree from Wheaton College. A veteran of the United States Army, Young served as a field artillery officer.
“I am thrilled to join the City of Carmel and look forward to serving the community,” Young said. “The decisions we make in utilities support residents’ quality of life, and it is a responsibility I look forward to taking on.”
Young will begin employment on April 2 and will assume director duties on April 18. He will fulfill the role held by John Duffy, who is retiring this month, following 33 years of service to the City.
