City of Carmel announces inaugural She L.E.A.D.S. Mayor's Conference
Empowering women, inspiring the next generation of leaders
CARMEL, Ind., Jan. 23, 2025 - The City of Carmel proudly announces the inaugural She L.E.A.D.S. 2025 Mayor’s Conference, hosted by Mayor Sue Finkam, on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 502 East Event Centre. The conference aims to empower women and middle school-aged girls in Carmel through Leadership, Empowerment, Advancement, Development and Service.
“Women and young girls are the backbone of a thriving community,” said Mayor Finkam. “She L.E.A.D.S. is a call to action to empower today’s women and equip tomorrow’s leaders. By fostering connections, providing resources, and showcasing women as role models, we ensure Carmel remains a place where all generations of women can thrive and lead.”
She L.E.A.D.S. bridges generations to create mentorship, professional growth and career exploration opportunities. The event’s interactive programming presented in two engaging segments is designed to inspire attendees to dream big and achieve their goals.

Women’s Segment (11 a.m. – 4 p.m.): Attendees will participate in professional development opportunities, including a keynote address by a local author, panel discussions with community and business leaders and networking sessions. Topics include leadership, time management and personal and professional growth. Prizes such as leadership coaching sessions with ADVISA Leadership Coaches will also be awarded.

Middle School Girls’ Segment (4 – 7 p.m.): This session features hands-on demonstrations exploring an array of career paths including construction, science and technology. Activities will help students discover their “why” and engage with mentors through a group activity, fostering curiosity and exploration. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion signed by Mayor Finkam and have the chance to win prizes.
