New committee continues mayor’s efforts to support transparency, accountability
Ushering in a new era of transparency, accountability and fiscal stewardship, the Carmel City Council, with Mayor Sue Finkam’s support, approved the formation of a new committee to review the city’s ties to affiliate non-profit organizations.
Unanimously approved at the Nov. 18 council meeting, the Affiliate Review Committee builds upon efforts initiated earlier this year by Mayor Finkam.

Recycle election signs
The City of Carmel Utilities and Carmel Street Department are partnering with the Hamilton County Household Hazardous Waste Center and Recycle Force to recycle 2024 election campaign signs.
Now through Wednesday, Nov. 27, Carmel residents can bring their campaign signs and metal stands to the following locations:
Carmel Household Hazardous Waste Site, 901 N. Range Line Rd., Carmel, 46032 Carmel Street Department, 3400 W. 131st St., Carmel, 46074 Hamilton County Household Hazardous Waste Center, 1717 Pleasant St., Ste. 200, Noblesville, 46060

2025 City of Carmel Arts Grant applications open through Nov. 29
The City of Carmel announced its 2025 City Arts Grant application process, which will be conducted entirely online for the first time. This program aims to support local arts organizations that contribute to the vibrancy and appeal of our community. Since its inception in 2004, more than $17.3 million in arts grants have been awarded. The City Council has approved $1.47 million in funding for the 2025 grant cycle.
Local arts groups are encouraged to apply for funding. The deadline for the initial round of applications is Friday, November 29, at 5 p.m. For more information and to access the online application, please visit Carmel Arts Grants | City of Carmel.

3RD AVENUE SW - Beginning Saturday, Nov. 23, during the Christkindlmarkt's hours of operation, 3rd Avenue SW will be open to northbound traffic only. Signage will be in place to indicate the traffic adjustment. You will also notice that the free Holiday Trolley will begin service that same day and will be available at the dates and times listed below.

Carmel Fire Department kicks off annual community assistance program
Since 1967, the Carmel Fire Department (CFD) has delivered food and gifts to families in need in Carmel. Every year, CFD, with support from the Carmel community, has assisted hundreds of needy families during the holiday season.

Fall leaf and landscape waste removal Now through Dec. 15, each Carmel Utilities/Republic Services residential customer home is allowed up to 20 bags/bundles (four feet or shorter bundles) of landscape waste pick up per week, free of charge.

A few reminders for the Thanksgiving holiday week:
-Republic Services Trash & Recycling will be on a one-day delay for Thursday and Friday customers only.
-Carmel Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center will be closed beginning Thursday, Nov. 28 until it reopens on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Holiday at Carter Green
Celebrate the grand opening of Carmel's authentic German holiday market and The Ice at Carter Green with Santa, reindeer and other animals, jugglers, carolers, balloon artists and more. Children will receive free goodie bags filled with surprises donated by event sponsors while supplies last.

You don't want to miss Mayor Sue Finkam, arriving with Santa to the Christkindlmarkt at 3 p.m. and the annual tree lighting at 6:45 p.m.

Santa Tours return this weekend!
Mark your calendars as Santa returns to Carmel this holiday season with his friends from the Carmel Fire, Police and Street departments. The tours will begin Sunday, Nov. 24 and include 10 dates with 10 different routes through Sunday, Dec. 15. Each tour time will be from 5-8 p.m. on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
You can check the Santa Tracker to view the routes and find out when he’s close by your home or neighborhood.

Colts to host watch party for Dec. 1 road game
On Sunday, Dec. 1 from noon - 4 p.m. at Midtown Plaza, watch the Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots at a road game Watch Party presented by the Colts and Bud Light. This party is free to attend and open to all ages but fans must secure a ticket to attend.

On Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Clay Township Government Center Garage, the Carmel Department of Community Services and Yard & Company hosted a Home Place Sub Area Plan Open House event that had more than 50 attendees throughout the evening. The event is one of several opportunities for gathering community input to inform the development of the Sub Area Plan which will be amended into Carmel’s Comprehensive Plan.

This event launched a new round of community engagement about potential ways to beautify and address opportunities in the business district at 106th Street & College Avenue.
The concepts and information shared at the Open House have been formatted into a Survey and Map Activity to continue to gather community insights.

Board of Zoning Appeals - Monday, Nov. 25, 6 p.m.
City of Carmel offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
All public meetings take place in the Council Chambers in City Hall, unless otherwise indicated. Public meetings are broadcast live on Carmel TV and YouTube .
