Welcome to SwimCity, USA!
Left to right: Alex Shackell, Mayor Sue Finkam, Chris Plumb, Aaron Shackell.
|
|
Last week, Mayor Sue Finkam caught up with two of our Olympic swimmers, Aaron and Alex Shackell, and Olympic coach Chris Plumb in Midtown Plaza. The Olympians were presented with street signs displaying their names, which will temporarily replace Monon Boulevard, Elm Street, First Street and Second Street until the Olympics have concluded. Olympic swimmer Drew Kibler was not able to attend the media day but will have a street named for him, as well.
Stay tuned for watch party information and more fun ways that the city will be celebrating these swimmers leading up to and during the Paris Olympics.

CarmelFest was a blast!
A little rain didn't stop Carmel's annual two-day Independence Day festival. CarmelFest was bigger and better than ever this year. How about those fireworks? Thank you to the Rotary Club of Carmel who organized this event, the generous sponsors and volunteers and all of our City of Carmel teams who helped to make this one of the best events of the year. And, of course, thank you to the Carmel community and our visitors, for your enthusiasm and participation in all of the CarmelFest events.

Live or work in the Home Place area? We want to hear from you!
Carmel adopted its new Comprehensive Plan in December 2022. A critical component of that plan is to create Sub Area Plans throughout the city. Home Place is one of the first Sub Area Plans to be initiated. While the Sub Area Plan will be amended into the Comprehensive Plan, this planning process will establish an even deeper understanding of Home Place’s needs and opportunities while reinforcing the community’s unique character. It will be a plan for and by Home Place. This effort started in late April 2024 and will continue through the summer and early fall. Along the way there will be multiple opportunities for you to stay in the loop, provide input and get involved to shape the outcome and what comes next for Home Place.
