Last Thursday, community and City of Carmel team members joined Mayor Sue Finkam for a walk on the Monon Greenway from City Hall to Main Street as a part of the Move with the Mayor® initiative. Check out the amazing aerial view as the group headed north on the Monon Greenway.

Former Mayor Jane Reiman recognized with plaque dedication in the public courtyard at Mélange
Last Friday, Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam, former Mayor Jim Brainard, SVP of Acquisitions and Development of Onyx + East David Leazenby and Carmel Redevelopment Commission Director Henry Mestetsky, dedicated the courtyard at the Mélange to former Carmel Mayor Jane Reiman. HAZEL DELL PARKWAY AND 106TH STREET One lane each way on Hazel Dell Parkway is now closed as the construction of the roundabout at the intersection gets underway.
NEWS FROM THE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION On or after, Friday, May 31, bridge resurfacing over U.S. 31 will begin in the following locations:

West 111th Street, from Illinois Street to Pennsylvania Parkway, will begin on or after Friday, May 31 and be completed on Monday, June 3.

West Carmel Drive, from Illinois Street to Pennsylvania Parkway, will begin on or after Friday, June 21 and be completed Monday, July 8. Work will take place during the weekends only, from Fridays at 9 p.m. to Mondays at 6 a.m.

West Main Street, from Illinois Street to Pennsylvania Parkway, will begin on or after Friday, July 12 and be completed by Monday, July 22. Work will take place during the weekends only, from Fridays at 9 p.m. to Mondays at 6 a.m.

West 136th Street and Smoky Row, work will begin in August (schedule to come)
NEWS FROM HAMILTON COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT Allisonville Road at the intersection of 146th Street will reopen on Sunday, June 9 at 6 p.m. The reopening marks the end of a 90-day closure as well as the project’s first full year of construction.

The Carmel Street Department has released its list of 2024 street paving projects.
More than 50 lane miles of roadway are scheduled for an upgrade this spring and summer as the Street Department kicks off its annual paving projects with a budget of $5 million to improve local thoroughfares. Some of the preliminary work began in early May. For a complete list of paving projects, click here.

Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation hosts Adaptive Sensory-Friendly Swim events
At Sensory-Friendly Swim events, individuals with disabilities and their families are invited to splash the night away without the noise and crowds.
Pre-registration is required. Each event is from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. for $20 per family (only one member per family needs to register.) This link takes you to the registration website.

Movies at Midtown
Head to Midtown Plaza on Tuesdays and Thursdays for Movies at Midtown presented all summer long by Allied Solutions, on the big screen. Showings are at noon and 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and 6 p.m. on Thursdays. This link takes you to the 2024 movie schedule.

Bike Carmel Family Fun Ride Bike Carmel launched its first Family Fun Ride of the season on Saturday, May 11 at Carmel Elementary School. City of Carmel, Rollfast Cycling Club and everyone's favorite bike mascot, Spokes, welcomed more than 60 participants for a bike ride, games and activities. Read more about this event at this link.

CNAN June Meeting Carmel Neighborhood Association Network (CNAN) Meeting Thursday, June 6, 6 p.m. *Carmel Police Department Headquarters, 3 Civic Square *Please note this is a new meeting location Coffee sponsored by Carmel Caffeine Trail participant Just Love Coffee Cafe. Light refreshments will also be served.
CNAN continues to be one of the best ways for the City to share information about City departments and services while addressing the concerns of neighborhood association presidents' networks.
