Carmel Christkindlmarkt voted #1 Best Holiday Market in America by USA Today’s 10Best for the 4th year
|
|
The Carmel Christkindlmarkt has been voted Best Holiday Market in the USA Today’s 10Best competition for the fourth time.
Candidates from across the United States were selected by a panel of experts and 10Best editors, and the public was then invited to vote for their favorite market. The Carmel Christkindlmarkt has claimed top place in 2019, 2021, 2022 and now 2023 (the contest did not take place in 2020 due to the pandemic).
“Every year, we are honored and humbled by the support people have for our Market,” said Maria Murphy, CEO of the Carmel Christkindlmarkt. “We work tirelessly to make sure our Market is as authentic and magical as possible for our visitors, and we are thrilled to be a part of so many families’ holiday traditions.”

Carmel Green Initiative honors Mayor Brainard’s environmental legacy
Mayor Brainard with Leslie Webb, president and co-founder of the Carmel Green Initiative.
A tree at Carmel City Hall was dedicated in honor of Mayor Jim Brainard to celebrate his environmental legacy. The Carmel Green Initiative selected the bur oak tree as a living tribute to the Mayor's status as a great climate leader. As this tree grows, we hope it provides inspiration for our ongoing journey towards sustainability and resilience.
A special thanks to Carmel Green Initiative president and co-founder, Leslie Webb and City of Carmel employees Daren Mindham and Alexia Lopez who coordinated the selection and planting of the tree.
Pictured with Mayor Brainard are members of the Carmel Green Initiative, City of Carmel department directors and staff, members of the Urban Forestry and other supporters of Carmel’s environmental initiatives.

Traffic Update
FROM HAMILTON COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
LANE ASSIGNMENTS - 146TH STREET AND ALLISONVILLE ROAD Crews have noticed an influx of motorists crossing the yellow pavement markings on Allisonville Road south of 146th Street, which are in place to keep traffic to the right on Allisonville Road at this location. The contractor plans to install additional bollards at this location to help prevent this from continuing to happen. Hamilton County Highway asks that traffic keep to the right of the bollards and to please use caution while driving through this construction zone.
