City opens roundabouts no. 149 and no.150
Two new roundabouts opened in Carmel this week. Roundabout no. 149 and no. 150, in the Courtyards of Carmel community, opened at the intersection of Matt Street and Millgate Drive as well as Grisham Drive and Twain Drive.
"These intersections were targeted during the planning of the new development to provide neighborhood traffic-calming and reduce the need for stop-controlled portions of the intersection," said Jeremy Kashman, City Engineer. "Normal vehicular traffic will drive around the center truck apron just as a normal roundabout. Larger vehicles will be able to traverse over the center truck apron."

Carmel continues investing in pedestrian safety
Students crossing Main Street at Carmel High School.
The City of Carmel plans to add several more Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at key crosswalks throughout the community, marking a significant investment in pedestrian safety. At least a dozen are planned to be installed this fall.
“This crucial push reflects our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors," said City Engineer Jeremy Kashman. “RRFBs are a proven and effective solution designed to improve pedestrian visibility and driver awareness, particularly at busy intersections and crosswalks.”

Trick-or-Treat
Official hours of trick-or-treating in the City will be Tuesday, October 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. Homes welcoming trick-or-treaters should turn on their porch lights. If you do not wish to participate, or run out of candy, please turn off your porch lights.
While there are many neighborhoods and other organizations that hold their own Halloween events and celebrations, we encourage those who want to trick-or-treat door-to-door to use the City's official hours to do so.
