Details: The City of Carmel will unveil a new sculpture from the J. Seward Johnson collection that is designed to add elements of art discovery along the Monon and expand the City's collection of sculptures. The new sculpture was acquired from The Seward Johnson Atelier.
As we unveil this sculpture, we are ceremonially celebrating the placement of two other sculptures along Main Street.
- In front of Savor restaurant, is Wine, Food and Thou, depicting a woman with a picnic basket and shopping bag heading into the Art & Design District.
- In front of Woodys Library Restaurant is Strolling Professor, depicting a man in a suit with his briefcase leaving the school and library area, walking toward the Arts District.
These sculptures join Carmel's collection of J. Seward Johnson pieces. Carmel has the largest collection of Johnson's sculptures outside of his home state of New Jersey. Most of the city statues by Johnson are from the "Celebrating the Familiar" collection, depicting realistic moments from daily life in the 1970s.
The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be provided.
