Mayor Brainard appoints Chaka Coleman to Plan Commission
Mayor Jim Brainard announced today he has appointed Chaka Coleman, a Carmel attorney and business lobbyist, to the Carmel Plan Commission to fulfill the term left vacant by Leo Dierckman who recently moved out of Carmel. Coleman will serve on the Commission until December 31, 2026.
The Carmel Plan Commission helps manage the city's growth and development and assists the Carmel City Council as it develops and updates City Ordinances, the Comprehensive Plan, the Thoroughfare Plan and other long-range plans. Primary areas of focus for the Plan Commission are planning for housing, transportation, neighborhood development, parks, commercial development and public facilities. Nine voting members serve on the Commission.

City of Carmel welcomes Latvian officers from sister city, Jelgava
As part of an exchange program with one of our sister cities, Jelgava, Latvia, the Carmel Police Department welcomed two officers this week. During their two-week long stay in Carmel, these officers will be given an inside look into our community and the functions of the police department.

Rain on Main events!
Congratulations to the winners of the judged competition! Voting for 'People's Choice' is still open
Results of the judged competition found Carolyn Willard in first place with her Water Into Wine design; Ranj Puthran in second place with Into the Wild; and in third place with Bubbly Sunset, was Ashley Richardson.
Judges also recognized Audrey Papay of Guerin High School and the Carmel High School Art Honor Society as honorable mention selections.

Late Night on Main August 19
Jai Baker 3, the perfect mix of country and rock, will make its mark on downtown Carmel at Late Night on Main on Saturday.

Coffee on the Monon August 25
Bike Carmel and IU Health North Hospital has partnered with the Carmel Caffeine Trail to encourage and thank bicycle commuters for riding to work. Complimentary coffee and light snacks will be provided by Just Love Coffee Cafe.

White River Clean Up August 26
The annual White River Clean Up is back! The City of Carmel, City of Fishers, the White River Alliance, White River Canoe Company and Conner Prairie need your help picking up trash while canoeing along the White River.

Volunteers from Carmel should select the White River Canoe Company (which appears as: "WRCC Livery to Connor Prairie" on the sign up page) to Conner Prairie Admission Ticket Option and arrive at Conner Prairie no later than 8 a.m. for check-in.

Midtown's Got Talent presented by Allied Solutions
Talented and entertaining vocalists and musicians, age 10 and older, will hit the stage to see who can “wow” a panel of judges and take home up to $500 in cash prizes.

Fall 2023 Carmel Citizens Utility Academy - Registration Now Open!
The fall class begins September 26, 2023, and will meet for approximately two hours, every Tuesday morning, for seven weeks (please note no session on October 10 due to Fall Break). The Academy is free and open to Carmel residents.

Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation wants to hear from you!
Every five years, the Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation Department develops a new master plan using internal assessment, data collection and community input to help determine how to best serve an ever-changing and growing community. This feedback allows CCPR to create a snapshot in time of the wants and needs of its residents.

Calling all creatives!
Indiana-based artists, organizations invited to submit proposals for New Works
New Works is an initiative by The Center for the Performing Arts to promote and sustain local artists and arts communities. Through this program, The Center supports the creation of new works across all performing arts disciplines, including but not limited to music, theater and dance.
Three winning proposals will receive $2,500 each in funding, along with rehearsal time and technical support, to premiere the works onstage during a public, live-streamed event June 1, 2024 at the Tarkington Theater.
