Mayor Brainard honored by U.S. Conference of Mayors
Pictured above (left to right): Mayor Ken Miyagishima of Las Cruces, NM; Mayor Luke Bronin of Hartford, CT; Mayor Brainard; Mayor Sylvester Turner of Houston, TX; and Tom Cochran, CEO and Executive Director of the USCM.
Mayor Jim Brainard, who has served on the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) for more than two decades – including in a leadership role for the past 13 years – was honored recently, along with three other mayors who have chosen to step down as Mayor of their cities. The honor was presented at the 91st Annual Meeting of the Mayors held in Columbus, OH.
“It was an honor for me to represent the City of Carmel at the Mayors' conferences over the years. It is important for leaders to gather and share best practices and solutions for building better cities across the country. I learned a lot and enjoyed sharing the successes we have experienced in Carmel with my colleagues,” said Mayor Brainard.

City takes measures to end confusion for motorists at Carter Green and the Monon
The City was made aware of an issue where vehicles were accidentally turning on to the Monon Greenway from Carter Green, confusing it for a roadway. As a result, the City has added planters and a trash receptacle to block the open space. Because construction continues along the Monon in the Carter Green area, please be cautious of construction equipment that may still be present there.

To comply with Indiana Department of Environmental Management state regulations, City of Carmel Utilities issues a Water Quality Report (also called Consumer Confidence Report) annually describing the quality of your drinking water. The purpose of this report is to raise your understanding of drinking water and awareness of the need to protect our drinking water sources.
Carmel Utilities is pleased to report that your tap water met or exceeded all Environmental Protection Agency and state standards in 2022.
In previous years, City of Carmel Utilities has combined both the Carmel Water and the Carmel Clay Citizens Water reports. However, this year the reports are separated to distinguish these utilities, as a benefit to both water utility customers.
