Carmel launches Climate Action Plan dashboard
 |
The City of Carmel, working together with technology partner Kausal Ltd, launched its Climate Action Plan (CAP) dashboard for Earth Day, April 22. The dashboard will make it easier for the public to monitor CAP progress in real time. The goal is to make sure the City's climate work is not only easily accessible to all citizens but can also serve as an inspiration for all to do their part.
By partnering with Kausal, the City will offer residents and stakeholders transparent and user-friendly access to the Climate Action Plan via the City’s website, allowing a better understanding of the CAP and what actions and strategies Carmel has established for each of the seven key CAP sectors:
- Public Education Programs
- Energy and Built Environment
- Transportation
- Water and Wastewater
- Solid Waste
- Local Food and Agriculture
- Greenspace
“There is no better time to launch this website than on Earth Day 2023, as a way to place this important issue front and center with web access that all residents can see and learn about the City’s climate related efforts," said Mayor Jim Brainard.
The Climate Action Plan dashboard can be found at www.ClimateCarmel.com.

Carmel to observe Jewish Heritage Month in May
The City of Carmel will observe Jewish American Heritage Month in May, joining cities and institutions across the country in urging Americans of all backgrounds to discover, explore and celebrate the vibrant and varied American Jewish experience from the dawn of our nation to the present day. The month of observance began in 2006 when President George W. Bush proclaimed that May would be Jewish American Heritage Month, thanks to the efforts of the Jewish Museum of Florida and South Florida Jewish community leaders.
"It's important that we take this opportunity to explore the more than 350-year history of Jewish contributions to American culture," said Mayor Jim Brainard. "Celebrating Jewish American Heritage Month helps us strengthen our local community and promotes a strong sense of acceptance and a willingness to share our civic life, thanks to a deeper understanding of cultural heritage."

VETERANS WAY AND MAIN STREET -The final phase of the burial of transmission lines continues in the Carmel Arts & Design District and has forced the temporary closure of a half-block stretch of Veterans Way, south of Main Street. The transmission burial project began in 2015 and included the conduit along the Veterans Way corridor from Carmel Drive to just north of Main Street. This project is under a partial road closure with an expected completion date of June 30, 2023. Construction is taking place on City Center Drive between 3rd Avenue SW and Range Line Road.
