Construction News
CITY CENTER DRIVE AND VETERANS WAY ROUNDABOUT - Beginning on April 17, the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of City Center Drive and Veterans Way - in front of Carmel City Center - will begin as the City works to install new infrastructure as part of the project including storm sewers, water main, sanitary sewer, communications conduit, asphalt pavement, path, lighting and raised crosswalks within the right-of way.
This project will begin under a partial road closure with an expected completion date of June 30, 2023. Construction will take place on City Center Drive between 3rd Avenue SW and Range Line Road. City Center Drive will experience periodic traffic flow restrictions and detours during times of construction. Driveways will be accessible for local traffic, and the City will work to maintain access throughout the duration of the project.

Record breaking weekend for Carmel Marathon
The 13th Annual Carmel Marathon drew record crowds last weekend as runners from across the country came to Carmel to compete in one of the largest marathons in the Midwest. Congratulations to all and especially the winners, some of whom broke records in the process!
Under sunshine and ideal racing conditions, the 2023 Carmel Marathon Weekend started with a full capacity participant field and finished with five course records. More than 4,000 participants crossed the start line after from 40 states and six countries for the event.

City reminds community about Carmel sign standards
With local elections in progress, the City of Carmel would like to remind all parties, candidates and community members, of the Unified Development Ordinance Sign Standards for Temporary Signs.

Land Waste Pick Up
During the months of April and May, the City's trash program includes pick-up of 20 extra bags or bundles per week, per home, of landscape waste.
- Please keep shrubs or tree limbs shorter than four feet (the trash trucks do not have the capacity to accept anything longer than four feet)
- Please set out landscape waste on your service day
- Please use the Republic Services trash cart or place bags near the trash cart
- Do not place landscape waste in your recycling cart
Hydrant Flushing
Carmel Utilities is conducting City hydrant flushing maintenance over the next few weeks. Flushing is a controlled, quick release of water from fire hydrants, to optimize water quality and confirm that each hydrant is operating properly every year.

Do you have the biggest tree in Carmel?
City launches contest to discover who has the largest tree in celebration of Arbor Day
Get out your measuring tape, it’s time to find the City of Carmel’s biggest tree. The second annual Big Tree Contest, sponsored by the City’s Urban Forestry Committee as part of the observance of National Arbor Day, challenges local residents to find the biggest tree in their yard and measure it to see if it stands tall among all the other trees in the City.
Contest entries will be accepted from April 1-30 from Carmel residents to determine the biggest tree in 13 different species categories: Ash, Beech, Birch, Cottonwood, Elm, Hackberry, Honeylocust, Maple, Oak, Sweetgum, Sycamore, Tulip and Walnut/Hickory. Winners in each category will receive a $50 gift card.

Inaugural Carmel Jazz Fest launches August 11 - 12
The inaugural Carmel Jazz Fest is scheduled for August 11 and 12, 2023. The two-day festival will feature more than 30 international, national and regional jazz, R&B and blues acts across eight stages throughout Carmel, including The Palladium, The Tarkington, Carmel Gazebo, Carter Green, The Studio Theatre, Midtown Plaza, Feinstein's at Hotel Carmichael, Jazz on the Monon and pop-up performances. The event includes an upscale art market, beer, wine and food vendors.
