City of Carmel to present annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony
What:
The City of Carmel presents the 2023 Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony to commemorate those who were killed and the loved ones who suffered through the Holocaust.
When:
Friday, April 21 at noon. The ceremony will last approximately an hour and a half and will be followed by a light lunch.
Where:
The Tarkington Theater, Three Carter Green, Carmel, IN 46032.

Special guest speakers:
- Mayor Jim Brainard, City of Carmel
- Keynote Speaker, Julie Sondhelm, Clinical Director of Jewish Family Services
- Rabbi Benjamin Sendrow, Congregation Shaarey Tefilla
- Rabbi Justin Kerber, Congregation Beth Shalom
- Michael Wallack, Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Human Relations
Keynote speaker Julie Sondhelm is a second generation survivor of the Holocaust. She is the Clinical Director of Jewish Family Services and works with diverse populations in this role and provides direct support and assistance to our local Holocaust survivors. She will be sharing about her grandfather’s experience.

Land Waste Pick Up
During the months of April and May, the City's trash program includes pick up of 20 extra bags or bundles per week, per home, of landscape waste.
- Please keep shrubs or tree limbs shorter than four feet (the trash trucks do not have the capacity to accept anything longer than four feet)
- Please set out landscape waste on your service day
- Please use the Republic Services trash cart or place bags near the trash cart
- Do not place landscape waste in your recycling cart

Events get rolling in May
Midtown Plaza
Summer at Midtown Plaza is right around the corner. The City of Carmel and Allied Solutions will double the opportunities to watch weekly movies on the BIG SCREEN, while the weekly outdoor music offering will change from lunch time to dinner time. In addition, a new Midtown Block Party is being planned for May 13.
