Mayor Jim Brainard honored for 27 years of service at Indiana State legislative session

Mayor Jim Brainard was honored at the Indiana Statehouse on Monday, March 20 for his 27 years of service as Carmel's Mayor. The bipartisan bill was sponsored by Senator J.D. Ford, Senator Scott Baldwin, Representative Victoria Garcia Wilburn and Representative Donna Schaibley. Joining the Mayor at the Statehouse were members of his family, longtime friends and advisors, City staff and City Council.

Niche.com once again rates Carmel as the best place to live in Indiana
Niche.com, which uses a statistical formula to rate the positive livability of cities across the nation, has once again recognized Carmel as The Best Place to Live in Indiana. Using a variety of factors including local schools, public safety and an overall family-friendly vibe, the researchers recommended Carmel to anyone looking for a new home, new job and a place to raise a family.

Carmel recognizes March as Disability Awareness month
Virtual Art Exhibition
The virtual art exhibit produced by Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation in partnership with the Carmel Arts Council featuring local artists of all ages and disabilities, continues through the end of March. The art is featured on the Carmel Arts Council website and will continue to be shared on social media throughout the month. Select works are also being displayed on the Midtown Plaza video screen. Three talented artists are featured below; be sure to visit the virtual exhibit to view all of the artists' works.

In recognition of Disability Awareness Month, watch this short video about the importance of having accessible parking within our community in Carmel.
Carmel Fire Department moving to new headquarters near Midtown
The Carmel Fire Department's new administrative building is ready for move in! Over the next few weeks, CFD will be transitioning into their new headquarters at 210 Veterans Way, which will house all administrative offices, fire buffs museum and the Safe House used for teaching children fire safety. Follow CFD's Facebook page for updates and virtual tours.
*This building will not be an in-service fire station; fire station 341 (2 Civic Square) will remain the closest operating firehouse.

Beautiful new mosaics installed on Civic Square Garage
|
|
Carmel’s new Civic Square parking garage has been beautified with mosaic murals on the exterior walls. The garage is located on Veterans Way, just west of Range Line Road near the Old Spaghetti Factory and the murals are visible to motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians making their way through the area.

Inaugural Carmel Jazz Fest launches Aug 11 - 12
The inaugural Carmel Jazz Fest is scheduled for August 11 and 12, 2023. The two-day festival will feature 30+ international, national and regional jazz, R&B and blues acts across eight stages throughout Carmel, including The Palladium, The Tarkington, Carmel Gazebo, Carter Green, The Studio Theatre, Midtown Plaza, Feinstein's at Hotel Carmichael, Jazz on the Monon and pop-up performances. The event includes an upscale art market, beer, wine and food vendors.

Hamilton County High Schoolers Selected as Bicentennial Ambassadors
The Hamilton County Bicentennial Commission announced that 11 high school sophomores and juniors will serve as Bicentennial Ambassadors now through December 2023. These Hamilton County student ambassadors will serve as a bridge from the past to the future through conversation and public engagement.

Spring into conservation with native plants and rain barrels
Spring rains, sunshine and blooms are on the horizon. Plan ahead for your property by ordering your native plants and rain barrels from the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District. The District has all the tools you need to conserve water and support pollinators like bees and butterflies with beautiful native plants.
Plant kit and rain barrel pre-orders can be placed online at www.hamiltonswcd.org. Orders for plants are due by March 30 and rain barrel pre-orders are due by April 27. Rain barrels can be picked up May 9 - 10 and plants, the week of June 5 in Noblesville. All proceeds support conservation projects and education in Hamilton County.
