Carmel recognizes March as Disability Awareness month
The City of Carmel is observing National Disability Awareness Month in March and will be part of several special events. Mayor Jim Brainard signed a proclamation recognizing the month for Carmel and you can see how that all came together in this powerful video.
Virtual Art Exhibition
The virtual art exhibit produced by Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation in partnership with the Carmel Arts Council featuring local artists of all ages and disabilities, is now live! The art is featured on the Carmel Arts Council website and will continue to be shared on social media throughout the month. Select works are also being displayed on the Midtown Plaza video screen. Three talented artists are featured below; be sure to visit the virtual exhibit to view all of the artists' works.

Barrier-Free performance
Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation will host its annual Barrier-Free Theatre performance on March 18 and 19. This year’s performance is titled Find Your True Love and an ASL interpreter will be present for the March 18 performance.
Barrier-Free Theatre productions provide an inclusive creative outlet for individuals with and without disabilities. Cast members are involved in every aspect of the production. Click here to purchase tickets and meet the cast!
Carmel announces changes to events in Midtown Plaza
Summer at Midtown Plaza is about to get even better in 2023. The City of Carmel and Allied Solutions will double the opportunities to watch weekly movies on the BIG SCREEN, while the weekly outdoor music offering will change from lunch time to dinner time. In addition, a new Midtown Block Party is being planned for May 13.
All the exciting changes will go into effect in May, perfect timing for the community to gather at the Plaza on warm summer days and nights. For details about the events in Midtown, click here.

Carmel receives $2 million in State Community Crossing grants
The City of Carmel has received two Community Crossing grants from the Indiana Department of Transportation that will dramatically improve two major thoroughfares in Carmel.
This spring, the City will begin working on the reconstruction of 3rd Avenue SW from City Center Drive north to Elm Street. The project will include reconstruction of the road, new storm water drains, updates to the water and wastewater system, new on-street parking and the addition of multi-use paths on both sides of the roadway. Similar changes will come to College Avenue in the Home Place area in the future.

Statewide tornado drill March 14
The National Weather Service will conduct a statewide tornado drill on Tuesday, March 14 at approximately 10 a.m. Hamilton County Emergency Management will sound the outdoor warning sirens when the National Weather Service initiates the drill. The sirens will sound for three minutes, just as they do for a real-world activation.

Bicycling in Carmel survey
To help the City of Carmel and the League of American Bicyclists better understand the experiences that people who ride bikes in our community have, we would greatly appreciate it if you would complete this public survey. The survey will remain open through Wednesday, April 5.

Spring into conservation with native plants and rain barrels
Spring rains, sunshine and blooms are on the horizon. Plan ahead for your property by ordering your native plants and rain barrels from the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District. The District has all the tools you need to conserve water and support pollinators like bees and butterflies with beautiful native plants.
Plant kit and rain barrel pre-orders can be placed online at www.hamiltonswcd.org. Orders for plants are due by March 30 and rain barrel pre-orders are due by April 27. Rain barrels can be picked up May 9 - 10 and plants, the week of June 5 in Noblesville. All proceeds support conservation projects and education in Hamilton County.
