Bike Carmel and Freewheelin' Community Bikes host donation day
Saturday, October 29, Carmel City Hall Parking Lot 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The City of Carmel and Bike Carmel will host, what has become, Freewheelin’ Community Bikes’ annual Fall Donation Day on Saturday, October 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Carmel City Hall parking lot. Do you have an old bike in the garage or some leftover parts lying around? Help the City and Freewheelin’ Community Bikes get these into the hands of kids.
Participants are asked to consider donating bicycles and bicycle components that you’re no longer using. Help us beat our 2021 collection number of 92 bikes (76 bikes in 2020!) Bicycle donations are an important part of Freewheelin’ Community Bikes’ mission to provide safe, reliable and affordable transportation. The following items are especially useful:
- Bikes with multiple speeds/gears
- Quality bike shop brand-names and vintage steel frame bikes
- Modern comfort, mountain, road or cruiser bikes
- Bicycle-related donations (e.g., components, bicycles, tools, etc).
All donated products will be used to enrich youth programming and offer affordable transportation options to the Freewheelin’ community.

The Ice at Carter Green skating tickets are now on sale
Ice skating tickets for The Ice at Carter Green, sponsored by Allied Solutions, are now available for sale.
The 2022-2023 ice skating season opens on Saturday, November 19 and will follow the Christkindlmarkt’s open dates and times. After the market closes on December 30, the Ice will remain open through the winter, until its closing day on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
Carmel Christkindlmarkt volunteers needed
Be a part of the Christkindlmarkt magic this holiday season by volunteering at the market! Carmel Christkindlmarkt is one of the most popular markets in the United States, attracting well over half a million people since the opening in 2017. It was voted Best Holiday Market in 2019 and 2021 by USA Today (no Market in 2020). In addition, Wealth of Geeks voted Carmel Christkindlmarkt as the #8 best market in the WORLD!
The market is a blend of presentations by world-renowned woodworkers from the Erzgebirge region, entertainment, plus traditional German foods and gifts being sold from small wooden huts. The market surrounds a beautiful outdoor ice skating rink, The Ice at Carter Green.
Consider volunteering with us and being a part of our guests’ holiday memories this winter.

Help keep storm drains open
It’s that time of year when storm drains get clogged by leaves. Clogged drains can flood streets and yards during rain events. The City of Carmel Stormwater Department would like to remind residents to keep the metal grates in the street, and in rear yards, free of debris.
Residents that live next to storm drains can use a rake to clear the debris and remove gunk from the area to help prevent clogging of the drain. Remember to try to keep leaves out of the street and rear yard swales. You can make your efforts known by clicking here to learn how to adopt your storm drain.
