Celebrating Carmel
Carmel, Zionsville, Westfield ranked in top 10 of ‘Best Small Cities’ in America
Carmel (No. 2), Zionsville (No. 7) and Westfield (No. 10) ranked in the top ten of WalletHub’s study of the “Best Small Cities in America.” More than 1,300 cities were included in the study. The rankings were based on 43 “key indicators of livability,” according to WalletHub. Factors include housing costs, quality of local schools, and restaurants per capita.

Homage to Hoagy wins 2022 Indy Chamber Monumental award for Public Art
Congratulations to artist Arlon Bayliss and fabricators bo-mar Industries on their Achievement Award for Public Art at the 2022 Indy Chamber Monumental Awards on October 5. Homage to Hoagy, centered in the roundabout at City Center Drive and 3rd Avenue SW, complements the adjacent Center for the Performing Arts and its dedication to the Great American Songbook collection and Indiana songwriter, Hoagy Carmichael.

Carmel Clay Schools' Superintendent awarded
The City would like to congratulate Dr. Michael Beresford who has been named the District V Superintendent of the Year by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents. Dr. Beresford was selected by his peers for his professionalism, communications, community involvement and leadership demonstrated over the past year.

4th Annual Electric Vehicle Ride and Drive
The 4th Annual EV Ride and Drive took place at the Indiana Design Center parking lot on Saturday, October 2. More than 375 people attended and were able to view 46 electric vehicles from auto dealers and bike shops.

City Advisory Committee on Disability, Abound, OneZone, BraunAbility to host workshop for Carmel businesses on benefits of hiring people with disabilities
Who’s Your Next Great Hire?
Learn why people with disabilities make great employees and where to find funds to make any accommodations necessary. Plus, hear from local businesses who wish they’d started hiring people with disabilities sooner.

City reminds community about Carmel sign standards
With various state and local elections in progress, the City of Carmel would like to remind all parties, candidates and community members, of the Unified Development Ordinance Sign Standards for Temporary Signs.

Construction and Traffic news
North Range Line Road - Starting on or after Friday, October 7, northbound Range Line Road will be closed between Main Street to 1st Street NE for construction at the 1st On Main project. Suggested detour routes include: Main Street 1st Avenue NW East Smoky Row 2nd Street 1st Avenue NE There will be no restrictions to southbound Range Line Road but eastbound 1st Street NE will be closed between Range Line Road and 1st Avenue NE. These traffic restrictions are expected to last until December. (See map below)
East Smoky Row slip lane at Keystone Parkway - This work will continue through October with no scheduled closures of the intersection.
106th Street and College Avenue Roundabout - This 60-day project will be substantially complete in November and includes the new roundabout and construction of a multi-use path from Pennsylvania Parkway to College Avenue along 106th Street. The construction of this path is in the city's existing right-of-way and should not cause a closure of 106th Street.
Monon Greenway Closure - The Monon Greenway north of Smoky Row to the Hagan Burke Trail will be closed until the end of the year for the reconstruction of a culvert.

City Council amends and approves the proposed Comprehensive Plan, Plan Commission to review amendments
The City Council’s Land Use and Special Studies Committee met on September 19 and recommended additional revisions to the proposed Comprehensive Plan. Watch for additional discussion at the City Council meeting on Monday, October 3 at 6 p.m.

Carmel Utilities continues replacing aging water meters across the community with new, enhanced equipment allowing for more accurate readings and better water efficiency.
Please note, as the project moves to Phase Two, there are new instructions:
In order for the following indoor water meters to be changed, PLEASE schedule with Envocore - RTS Water Solutions by calling their service number (888) 632-9628.

Carmel Utilities Billing Drop Box is open
The NEW Carmel Utilities drive-up billing drop box, located in the south parking lot at Carmel City Hall, One Civic Square, is now open! Due to supply issues, the project had been delayed...but now...it's ready to use!
