Carmel is the Most Caring City in Indiana in 2022
When it comes to professionals who work in a field that focuses on the health and well-being of others – such as nurses, teachers, therapists and doctors – the City of Carmel has a higher percentage than any city in Indiana, making it the “Most Caring” city in the state, according to a data analysis by Insurify, a Cambridge, MA, based company that compares auto insurance quotes.

Winter fun continues
Carmel Winter Games, February 11 - 12
Get your families, friends or colleagues together and register your teams today or plan to come and cheer on your favorite team! The Carmel Winter Games are designed to encourage physical activity and a bit of healthy competition through on-ice, non-skating competitive games like "human hungry hippo," human curling and an ice trike relay!
Teams are now eligible to sign up to compete for medals and bragging rights on the ice rink! Click the link below for details. The Winter Games kick off on Friday, Feb. 11 with the Hometown Hero-Olympics and continue the following day, Saturday, Feb. 12, with the competitive group games.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration
City of Carmel’s 4th Annual MLK Day event focused on ‘Antidotes for Fear’ with live music, dance, spoken word and a live artistic creation on stage
The City of Carmel honored the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday at the Tarkington Theater, exploring the theme “Antidotes for Fear” with live music, dance visual arts and spoken word interpretations of the lessons Dr. King taught about overcoming fear. The fourth annual MLK Day program was a joint effort by the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Human Relations, the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Carmel, the Carmel Interfaith Alliance and the City of Carmel Community Relations Department.

Dee Thornton (pictured top), who represented the Human Relations Commission and served as emcee for the event, was joined by Dr. Shaune Shelby (pictured top), pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Carmel and a board member of the Carmel Interfaith Alliance in planning the event.
Thornton delivered passionate remarks concerning today’s civil rights challenges in America, while Shelby presented the “spoken word” passages of Dr. King’s “Antidotes for Fear” sermons. Carmel musician and voice teacher Blair Clark (pictured second from top) sang the National Anthem.

Carmel announces more street name changes
In a continued effort to help reduce confusion about Carmel’s traditional numbered and directional street names, the City has announced another round of street name changes with a nod toward historic figures thanks to the research done by the Carmel Clay Historical Society to find names that pay homage to some of our notable ancestors. Letters were sent last year to residents and businesses impacted by the changes, which will become official February 1, 2022.

Plan Commission sets their next Comprehensive Plan review meeting; revised draft coming soon
A revised draft of the proposed Comprehensive Plan is now available and will be reviewed at the Comprehensive Plan Review Committee’s upcoming meeting. The revisions, which are based on feedback and questions from the Plan Commission and the public, are available for review at CarmelComprehensivePlan.com

Carmel Construction Season 2022
The City of Carmel has released its annual list of major road construction projects for the spring, summer and fall of 2022. The projects include five more roundabouts, the continued development of the Japanese Gardens south of Carmel City Hall, a major expansion of the Monon Greenway at City Center and improvements to Smoky Row, between the Monon and U.S. 31, on the north side of the Carmel Arts & Design District.
Carmel Utilities continues replacing aging water meters across the community with new, enhanced equipment allowing for more accurate readings and better water efficiency.
In the next few weeks, our Carmel Utilities & Envocore - RTS Water Solutions install teams are scheduled to be in the following neighborhoods:
Briarwood North Gray Road Valleybrook Wintergreen Briarstone Ashton Avian Glen Hazel Dell North

Indiana Department of Health invites you to receive the COVID-19 test or vaccine
The Indiana Department of Health has set up a testing and vaccination clinic at the Jill Perelman Pavilion. No appointment is necessary, so come in when it’s convenient for you, but you may want to make an appointment to reserve your spot and save time by registering in advance, when available. Register for a COVID-19 test or for the vaccine. If you have already been vaccinated, please note that testing is also available at this event.
