Carmel unemployment rate drops to 2.5 for July
CARMEL, IN – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development released labor statistics for cities, towns and counties in Indiana today and Carmel once again saw a drop in the City’s unemployment rate. The rate for July is 2.5, which is down from June’s 2.8. The State of Indiana’s unemployment rate is 4.1 while the national rate is 5.4, both of those are seasonally adjusted.
“Today’s numbers continue to show that our local economy is strong and that we are bouncing back from the economic restrictions that were put into place last year during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mayor Jim Brainard. “In July of 2020, our city unemployment rate was up to 5.9, which is high for Carmel. Since January, however, our city rate has been 3 or less, which is a testament to our strong local job market.”
Carmel’s monthly unemployment rates for 2021 are below:
Jan – 2.8 Feb – 2.8 March – 3.0 April – 2.4 May – 2.5 June – 2.8 July – 2.5
