Shelby County's Multi-Generational Center (MGC) Team got a financial boost with a $150,000 Ignite! Shelby County grant.

One of three teams vying for the grant, MGC Team is a coalition of the Shelby Senior Services, Shelby County Players, Shelby County Arts Alliance, and several other related organizations that would benefit from the shared space provided with the construction of a multi-disciplinary / inter-generational arts and senior center.

The MGC Team formed in 2012 with the assistance of the Indiana Arts Commission's Community Arts Planning Consultancy which explored  the feasibility of creating an arts center.

In 2014, the MGC Team was also awarded a mini-consultancy to help advance the planning for the center. Now, in 2016, the retiring Major Hospital site in downtown Shelbyville has been identified as the prime setting to build the new center.
