Attorney General Todd Rokita defends the rights of Hoosier girls to fair competition in athletics
The month of May brought a major victory for female Hoosier athletes with the General Assembly's override of the governor's veto of HEA 1041. My office stands ready to uphold the law and defend any legal challenges. Hoosiers will not be bullied by woke groups or kowtow to left-wing activists who wish to undermine the values and principles we hold in our state. We stand by the law and will vigorously defend it in court. The passage of HEA 1041 to ban biological males from competing on biological female sports teams is an important step in protecting youth sports and will receive unwavering support from my office. Athletics are a core part of our kids’ development and growth. They provide a safe, beneficial outlet for children while also ingraining a healthy competitive spirit in our future generation. I will always defend and protect Hoosiers' liberty, regardless of any left-wing backlash.
Attorney General Todd Rokita defends Hoosiers against lawlessness at the Southern border
Attorney General Todd Rokita is defending Indiana with another legal action against the Biden administration’s continued failure to protect Hoosiers and all Americans from ongoing surges of illegal immigration. This time, Attorney General Rokita is challenging a new federal rule that makes it easier for aliens to obtain asylum in the U.S on false premises. The new federal rule, which goes into effect on May 31, transfers responsibilities for adjudicating aliens’ asylum claims from the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Executive Office of Immigration Review to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) asylum officers. These officers historically have accepted asylum claims much more easily than the DOJ immigration judges who often subject them to more rigorous scrutiny. The new rule also eliminates various procedural safeguards, allowing aliens seeking asylum to, for example, just provide oral statements rather than submit claims in writing. Attorney General Todd Rokita continues to fight to preserve Trump-era 'Remain in Mexico' policy
Attorney General Todd Rokita led an 18-state coalition in his latest action aimed at preserving the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” policy, which successfully stemmed the tide of illegal immigrants pouring into the United States. When the Biden administration illegally suspended it, Attorney General Rokita led a 19-state coalition in an initial amicus brief asking the U.S. Supreme Court to sustain the “Remain in Mexico” policy — formally titled the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP). MPP is designed to ensure compliance with longstanding immigration laws passed by Congress requiring immigrants not clearly authorized to cross the Mexican border into the U.S. be either detained, required to stay in Mexico, or paroled into the country only for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.
Attorney General Todd Rokita leads new multistate action defending unborn children
Attorney General Todd Rokita is leading an 18-state coalition fighting the Biden administration’s latest efforts to derail a Texas law that prohibits abortion when doctors can detect a baby’s heartbeat. Attorney General Rokita said he will continue to protect the lives of the unborn and the health of women, especially against those who believe the individual states are incapable of passing their own laws. The federal Executive Branch has adopted a more and more extreme position and continues to seek an injunction against a State any time it thinks a state law violates someone’s constitutional rights, but the Attorney General’s Office is fighting for federalism.
Attorney General Todd Rokita fights COVID-19 misinformation
Attorney General Todd Rokita is fighting to expose COVID-19 misinformation and calling on the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and other agencies to provide transparency for the data used to make public health decisions. Attorney General Rokita has consistently defended liberty in the age of COVID-19 by leading the charge against President Biden’s unlawful mask and vaccine mandates. Now, he is determined to expose the facts surrounding inaccurate data on the numbers of deaths and hospitalizations related to COVID-19.
Attorney General Todd Rokita protects and defends the unborn with U.S. Supreme Court filing
Attorney General Todd Rokita is leading a 16-state coalition asking the U.S. Supreme Court to end a private challenge of a state policy preventing abortion clinics from receiving Medicaid funds. “The court should prohibit individuals and abortion providers from privately suing states that enforce such laws on behalf of taxpayers,” Attorney General Rokita said. In an amicus brief filed, Attorney General Rokita specifically supports a South Carolina effort to exclude Planned Parenthood from being eligible for Medicaid funding. Previously, Indiana and other states have also tried unsuccessfully to take similar action. “The Supreme Court should help settle the issues at stake federal appeals courts in different judicial circuits have reached conflicting decisions,” Attorney General Rokita said.
