ST. CHARLES, Ill. - 02/05/2026
|
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at approximately 9:43 a.m., the St. Charles Police Department was notified by multiple parents that their child who attended a day care facility in the 2400 block of West Main St. in St. Charles, were alleged to have been given a chewable laxative by one of their daycare teachers. The ensuing investigation confirmed the incidents had occurred and identified three juvenile victims, each of whom is two years of age or younger.
The suspect employee was identified as 23-year-old Yizel J. Juarez, of Sycamore, IL. The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office was consulted, and the following charges were approved:
- Attempted Aggravated Battery - Bodily Harm - Victim Under 13 (Class A Misdemeanor) (3 counts)
- Endangering the Life or Health of a Child (Class A Misdemeanor) (3 counts)
Juarez turned herself into the St. Charles Police Department, and was processed on the above charges, given a court date, and released from police custody.
The charges against Juarez are not proof of guilt. She is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. All Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The St. Charles Police Department is encouraging anyone who might have information regarding this incident to contact the St. Charles Police Department’s Investigations Division at 630.377.4435.
