City of St. Charles Welcomes Community Feedback on Former Police Station Site
Community open House set for Feb. 19; public survey open through Feb. 22
St. Charles, Ill. (Jan. 30, 2026) – The City of St. Charles is hosting an open house event and has launched an online survey to invite community members to share feedback and ideas on the future redevelopment of the former police station site, 211 N. Riverside Ave., along the downtown riverfront.
The public open house event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at City Hall, 2 E. Main St. in St. Charles. During the open house, attendees can learn more about the potential redevelopment concepts for the site, explore pros and cons of each scenario, participate in hands-on activities to rank each option, and connect directly with City staff and the planning consultants involved in the project.
In addition to the in-person event, the City’s online survey invites community members to review proposed development scenarios and share feedback. The online survey will remain open through Feb. 22.
The redevelopment site, just north of the Municipal Building, has been vacant since 2019. Its prominent location along the riverfront presents a rare opportunity to create a dynamic space that reflects the community’s vision and priorities for downtown St. Charles.
In September 2025, the City released a feasibility study that provides a detailed analysis of the property and identifies various site constraints that may affect redevelopment opportunities. The study also examines potential opportunities and challenges associated with each concept. Public input gathered through the open house and survey will help ensure future decisions align with community priorities.
