City of St. Charles Holiday Hours and Reminders
Christmas Tree Pick Up, Holiday Lights Recycling Information
ST. CHARLES, Ill. (Dec. 16, 2025) – Below are a few reminders for the upcoming holidays.
City offices will be closed Dec. 24 & 25, 2025, and Jan. 1, 2026, for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
No Change to Refuse Collection Schedule
Garbage and recycling will be picked up on the normal collection schedule the weeks of Dec. 22 and Dec. 29, 2025.
Christmas trees will be picked up – no sticker needed – the weeks of Jan. 5 & Jan. 12, 2026. Trees will be collected on both sides of the river on refuse collection day. Remove all decorations, including tinsel and do not place trees in disposal bags. After this two-week period, a sticker will be required for pick up.
From now until Jan. 16, 2026, St. Charles residents and businesses can drop off holiday lights (working or non-working) and extension cords to be recycled.
