Road Closures Announced for the Fox Valley Marathon Sept. 21
ST. CHARLES, Ill. (Sept. 9, 2025) - The 2025 Fox Valley Marathon is Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 7 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. The marathon will begin in St. Charles at Mt. St. Mary’s Park and continue south to Aurora before returning to the finish line back at Mt. St. Mary’s Park.
The Race will begin at 7 a.m. Sunday, leaving Mt. St. Mary’s Park via the Prairie Street Bridge. Runners will follow routes both southbound and northbound on Riverside Ave. (IL Rt. 25). The northbound marathon route will continue to the Illinois Street Bridge, then south on 1st Street to Geneva Rd. (IL Rt. 31). Additional closures will take place as the runners return to St. Charles on the east side of the river.
Several roadways in St. Charles will be affected day of the Marathon:
Closures from 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.
- The Illinois Street Bridge from S. 1st St. to Riverside Ave.
- 1st St. from Illinois St. to Geneva Rd.
- Geneva Rd. (IL Rt. 31) from Prairie St. south to the St. Charles/Geneva border
- Riverside Ave. from Illinois Ave. to Division Ave.
- No Parking: 1st St. from Illinois St. to Prairie St.
Closures from 6:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Prairie St. Bridge, just east of 1st St. to Riverside Ave.
- The southern sidewalk of the Illinois Street Bridge.
- No Event Parking in the Whole Food’s parking lot (300 S. 2nd St.)
Police and Emergency Management Personnel will be positioned at key locations to assist with traffic direction. Motorists are advised to expect delays when traveling throughout the city. Watch for runners, spectators, and emergency responders assisting with the event. Please do not drive distracted.
