Village of Plainfield E-News Updates - 5/30/25

The Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce's Cruise Nights begin next week! Check out the classic cars in Downtown Plainfield, on Tuesday evenings, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will begin bridge deck repair work on IL-126 (Lockport Street) in June. Lockport Street will be restricted to one-way eastbound traffic between Wood Farm Road and Main Street for the duration of the project. Westbound traffic will be rerouted via an established detour route. An official construction press release from IDOT will be shared as soon as it becomes available. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel through the area.

The Police Department is hosting the Torch Run to support Special Olympics of Illinois on Friday, June 6, at 8:30 a.m., at Settlers' Park, 24401 W. Lockport Street. For more information and to register, click here.

Work on the DuPage River bridge has transitioned from foundation work to structural steel work. Steel beam installation is beginning near the east limits of the bridge with the contractor working west, structural steel work will continue through the summer. Next week, work will include water main and storm sewer installation near the Route 59 and 143rd Street intersection in addition to beam/structural steel erection at the DuPage River bridge. Crews continue to work on concrete removal and replacement in the Walker's Grove, Chatham Square, and Stewart Ridge Subdivisions. Beginning next week, concrete removal and replacement will also begin on Century Circle, 119th Street, and in the Crossings at Wolf Creek Subdivision. Crews are working on final parkway restoration and streetlighting wiring and pole installation. The final asphalt layer and new tree plantings are scheduled to be completed in the next few weeks. More information.
